Home Fire Kills 3 Year Old Boy

By News Desk
October 22, 2016

A little 3 year old boy got into his bed for the night with his dog and teddy bear, in Washington state. His body and his dog were found after a fire occurred in the home. The battery had been removed from the home smoke alarm. Investigators believe the dog stayed to try and protect the young child. In 1983, here in East Whiteland Township, a family of 5 perished in a home fire. The battery had been removed from their smoke alarm as well. It is one of the objectives of every fire department to promote fire safety and announce the message of having a working home smoke alarm, and we try to do that as much as we can. Complacency says, it will never happen to me. Reality says, it happens every single day. Please check your home smoke alarms and practice an exit drill with all family members. With cold weather approaching, heaters will be running and fireplaces burning, with home fires likely. Check your home smoke alarms and please do it today. For more information, contact your local fire department.
