The East Whiteland Fire Station had a visit from many beautiful service dogs on Sunday evening. The request by the Chester County Seeing Eye Puppy Club to bring the dogs to our station so they could become familiar with sights, sounds, scents, and activity of firefighters, various equipment and emergency vehicles, was welcomed by our members. The dogs are being raised and trained to provide a much needed service to those in need. In case there is an emergency once the dogs are providing their service, they would be more accustomed to emergency personnel and the emergency experience. East Whiteland Lieutenant Dan Sheridan and Firefighter Kyle O'Brien both donned their fire coats and air masks while career Captain Loren Nafziger, Firefighters John Porter and Ray Stackhouse assisted our friendly visitors and their handlers around the station to get the full experience. Our thanks also to Steph Gorrell for organizing the event. If you would like more information about the service dogs, check out their website: www.chestertsepups.com. There are 40 clubs providing this service in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland. Thank you to our visitors on Sunday, we enjoyed having you at our station.
