| Shortly after noon, at 12:28 hrs (12:28 pm), Station 5 was dispatched to the Carrabbas Italian Restuarant in the Lincoln Court Shopping Center located in the 200 block of Lancaster Avenue for a reported Chimney Fire. First arriving units noted a smoke condition in the building and suspected the fire in the oven chimney extending to the roof area. The assignment was then upgraded a building fire assignment, which re-alerted Station 5, and brought additional units from the Malvern Fire Company (Ladder 4 and Engine 4-5), Paoli Fire Company (Station 3), and Berwyn Fire Company (Tower 2).
East Whiteland Fire Marshal FM-42 (Battin) established "Carrabbas Command" while the crew of Engine 5-2 laid a supply line and the crew went to work on the interior. Mutual aid truck companies had orders to ladder the roof and to take a hoseline to the roof and extinguish the fire involving the top of the chimney, the flashing and the roof area.
Due to the time of day and hot weather conditions, two additional engines were requested, one each from Station 2 and Station 56 (Goshen).
Engine 3-5 arrived and crews assisted Engine 5-2's crew, while Engine 5-5 secured a water supply and Tower 2's crew assisted the Ladder crew on the roof.
The fire was placed under control a short time later. Crews worked well together on a hot day, and for the second time in 6 months, mainline crews made quick work of a fire in this shopping center.
