This week, during National Traffic Incident Awareness Week (November 14 to 18), a TIM Summit is being held at the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency headquarters at Harrisburg, PA. Attending the TIM Summit is East Whiteland Fire Company Board of Directors Vice-Chair Debbie Abel. The purpose of the TIM Summit is to bring representatives together to better understand and push for stronger initiatives to protect emergency responders and highway workers. The incidents of highway personnel being struck on our nations highways and roadways is increasing. The TIM (Traffic Incident Management) system requires a culture change, and culture change is most effective when its driven from the top. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has a Steer Clear Law which means that motorists must either move into another lane or slow down when approaching and passing emergency responders and highway workers. Motorists can do their part in helping and protecting us when abiding by this law.
