East Whiteland Ambulance Assists on Uwchlan House Fire

By Public Information Officer Michael Schon
March 28, 2013

At 0532 hrs (5:32 am), the Lionville Fire Company (St. 47) along with the West Whiteland Fire Company (St. 6) were alerted to the 600 block of Brecknock Drive for a reported house fire.

Within minutes, Police were on the scene advising that the house was fully engulfed. Chief 47 (M. Chapman) arrived shortly thereafter and confirmed the report of a working fire, and requested the Working Fire Dispatch (WFD) to bring additional resources to the scene. This re-alerted the above companies, and added an ambulance from East Whiteland, a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) from St. 53 (West Chester FD -Fame), and Ladder 4 (Malvern) as an additional RIT.

While firefighters made an aggressive interior fire attack, due to the rapid spread and extent of the fire, command ordered exterior operations at 06:01 (6 am) as to not unnecessarily endanger firefighter lives. Shortly thereafter the fire was placed under control with all hands working.

The fire is currently under investigation by Chester County and State Police fire marshals.

There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries.

All units were available by 06:56 hrs (6:56 am).
