Junior Firefighter Jake Wilson joined the East Whiteland Fire Company at the age of 16 with the desire to become a Firefighter and later an EMT. Jake is completing all the necessary skills and training to become a state certified firefighter in the Fire 1 certification in a program facilitated by the Octorara Area School District. The training program is held at the Chester County Public Safety Training Campus near Coatesville, Pa. High school students can enter the program, referred to as Homeland Security Program, through their home school districts by contacting a school counselor. There are other students enrolled in the program who are volunteer firefighters with their local fire department in Chester County. We are very proud of Jake and all of our young members for their efforts to attain the training necessary to benefit our communities in providing emergency services.
