The East Whiteland Fire Company was prepared for the winter storm, coordinated by both Deputy Chief Mark Koenig and Career Deputy Chief Matt Fink, ensuring that vehicles and personnel were ready. The day started off with EMS calls while monitoring the storm. Fire police were dispatched to Charlestown Road between Pikeland and Hollow Roads in Charlestown Township to assist Pennsylvania State Police with traffic control due to extreme icy conditions and various vehicles off the road. A traffic accident was reported on Route 202 northbound north of Route 401 with Ambulance 5-2, Engine 5-1, and Traffic 5 on the scene. After all of that, the snow stopped and the sun came out. With temperatures dropping and wind conditions, use caution when driving today and tonight as icy conditions are most likely during the cold weather.
