By Public Information Officer Michael Schon
December 13, 2014

At 21:02 hours (9:02 pm), Station 5 along with Station 4 (Malvern) and Station 2 (Berwyn) for the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) Assignment were dispatched to the Bacton Hill Mobile Home Park in East Whiteland Township for a reported mobile home fire. Supplemental 9-1-1 calls indicated that there was actually a shed on fire next to several mobile homes, with two propane tanks near by the fire building.

Malvern EMS Captain 4-20 (Johnson) arrived first on location and confirmed the report of the fully involved shed with exposure to neighboring mobile homes. Engine 5-1 arrived shortly thereafter and firefighters deployed attack lines to protect the exposures and knock the fire down in the shed. Captain 5 (Humphreys) established "Dylan Drive Command."

Two nearby mobile homes suffered damage as a result of the fire, but due to the prompt response and fire attack, firefighters were able to stop the fire before it spread inside the mobile homes, diverting tragedy.

The fire was placed under control around 21:30 hours (9:30 pm). The Chester County Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries. All units were available around 23:00 hrs (11 pm).
