Progress of New Fire House

Firefighter Randy Cockerham, July 22

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new fire station was last November at Route 401 and Mill Lane in East Whiteland Township. In May and June 2014 blasting was conducted at the site to remove 28,000 cubic yards of earth and stone, and now it is looking like a building with block being installed at the new site. Vehicle Rescue Training

Every Monday night, the members of the East Whiteland fire company come together for training. This past Monday, firefighters practiced vehicle rescue skills. Members reviewed air bags and refreshed themselves on how to set them up and use them safely. Touch-at-Truck Event at Penn Liberty bank

At 13:30 hours (1:30 pm), the new Engine 5-1 with a crew of 4 went to Penn Liberty bank in East Goshen township to participate in their Touch-a-truck event. This event was for families to get a chance to look at different trucks and see how they work. The crew from 5-1 participated by showing the families the engine and explaining what all the equipment and tools did.

The New Engine 5-1 Placed Into Service

We are proud to announce the placing into service of the new Engine 5-1! Engine 5-1 is a 2014 Marion Custom attack pumper on a Spartan Metro Star chassis with a 10" raised roof and seating for 6 firefighters. The body is an all aluminum body with full depth compartments. Engine 5-1 carries 750 gallons of water and has a 2000 gallon-per-minute pump.

Rope Rescue Training at Valley Creek Park

Members of Station 5 and the "C Platoon" spent Thursday evening at Valley Creek Park brushing up and practicing rope and low-angle rescue skills. Sergeant Mike Risell led members through an evolution where a victim was down an embankment off of Rt. 202 or the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Both of these major highways have very steep embankments that can pose significant challenges to rescuers if encountered. ... (Full Story & Photos)
