By News Desk
April 22, 2023

On Friday, April 22, 2023, at 2245 hours (10:45 PM), Station 5 was dispatched to the area of Wilburdale Road and Flatt Road for a rescue. After an initial search by the East Whiteland Police Department and the crews of Rescue 5 and Ambulance 5, it was determined that there was an individual stuck on a ledge inside the Catanach Asphalt Plant's Quarry. Captain 5C took command of the incident and requested the Chester County Rescue Task Force. This request then brought personnel and apparatus from the Fame Fire Co. No. 3 of the West Chester Borough Fire Department (Station 53), the Lionville Fire Company (Station 47), the Malvern Fire Company (Station 4), the Paoli Fire Company (Station 3), and the Berwyn Fire Company (Station 2). Crews worked diligently to extricate the individual safely from the isolated ledge that they were on and were successful in their operations.

We would like to thank the West Whiteland Fire Company (Station 6), Paoli Fire Company (Station 3), and the Good Fellowship Ambulance & EMS Training Institute (Station 55).

We would also like to thank the Chester County Department of Emergency Services Fire Board for their diligent work in assisting with communication needs throughout the incident.
