On Friday, July 15th at 2232 hours (10:32 pm), the East Whiteland Fire Company (Station 5) along with mutual aid was dispatched to the 400 block of Lancaster Avenue for the report of a house fire. Engine 5 responded upon the dispatch. While enroute, Chester County 911 relayed the message to Engine 5 that there were reports that this was a cabin that was located behind a church and that there were wires and trees on fire. Chester County 911 then updated Engine 5 with a report from police on scene that there was no structure involved. Engine 5 arrived on scene and reported that building was not involved and a bulk of the fire was self extinguished. Captain 5A then assumed command and shortly after, reduced the speed of incoming apparatus and requested that Amtrack and PECO respond to the scene. Deputy 5 then held the incident to Station 5 units and Ladder 6. After investigation, crews located a downed power line that they believed to be the cause of the fire. Crews operated on scene for approximately an hour and a half before returning available.
