At approximately 0215 on Thursday, March 24th, the East Whiteland Fire Company along with mutual aid partners were dispatched and responded to the area of Buttonwood Avenue for the report of a House Fire. Assistant Chief 5 arrived on the scene shortly after the dispatch to find an attached garage on fire. Engine 5 arrived as the first due engine and began suppression efforts with their own water supply and stretched an 1 3/4" handline for fire attack. Shortly afterwards crews had 2 handlines in service with the bulk of the fire knocked. Ladder 4 (Malvern Fire Company) arrived as the first due truck followed shortly by Tower 3 (Paoli Fire Company). Additional incoming units were instructed to send their crews to manpower for staging. Shortly after, it was reported that the primary search had been complete and all occupants were out of the building. Buttonwood Command then requested standby units for Station 5 and reported that crews were checking for extension of the fire. Chester County and East Whiteland Township Fire Marshals were requested to investigate the fire. Crews operated on the scene for approximately two hours before returning available.

The East Whiteland Fire Company would like to thank Station 47 (Lionville Fire Company) and Station 6 (West Whiteland Fire Company) for standing by in Station until Station 5 units returned back to service.
