On December 2nd 2021 at 17:10 hours, Station 5 along with mutual aid companies were dispatched to Prospect Ave in East Whiteland Township for a reported house fire. Chester County Fire Radio had advised that there was a kitchen fire in the area of the dispatched address. East Whiteland Car 1 and Engine 5 responded and on arrival Engine 5 laid in from a nearby hydrant and stretched a 200' cross lay to the front door of the residence. Engine 5's crew advanced to the kitchen to find that the fire had been extinguished by the resident. The crew then checked for extension in the walls and ceiling. Engine 6-1 arrived as second due engine and assisted with overhaul operations. The assignment was held to the on scene units and crews operated for approximately an hour and a half. The fire is currently under investigation by the Chester County Fire Marshalls Office.
