The East Whiteland Volunteer Fire Company would like to congratulate Colin Joy of Boy Scout Troop 76 based in Frazer for earning his Eagle Scout award this week. The Eagle Scout rank is the highest level that can be achieved in Scouting and is the result of years of work, dedication, and community service.

For his Eagle Scout Project, Colin selected the East Whiteland Volunteer Fire Company as the beneficiary for his service project. Colin led a team of Scouts in not one, but two projects to benefit the fire station.

For the first project, Colin designed and built two confined space training props. These props simulate the conditions a firefighter may encounter when a ceiling collapses potentially trapping a firefighter. Navigating out of a confined space with obstacles provides the necessary training for firefighter survival. And for the second project, Colin constructed a fire pit in our picnic area providing a spot for members to relax and unwind after a day of service.

A big thank you and congratulations to Colin for this hard-earned and well-deserved achievement.
