The East Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched at 1:21 PM Tuesday for a tractor-trailer jack-knife and crash at mile marker 15.8 northbound in East Whiteland Township. Ambulance 5-1 and Engine 5-2 arrived on the scene with Pennsylvania State Police. The tractor-trailer crashed into the guard rail and was facing south on the right travel lane and shoulder. This would be an extended operation as Abel Brothers Towing had to carefully recover and prepare the tractor-trailer with a damaged axle and to re-connect air and brake lines for transport. East Whiteland Fire Police were dispatched for traffic control at the scene. Fire Police deployed several early warning signs for motorists approaching the incident scene in the heavy rain. Two travel lanes were open and at times just one lane, until the tractor-trailer was turned around to be towed north and off the exit. The highway was clear and all lanes open at 5:25 PM. We would like to thank motorists traveling northbound for their patience and cooperation during the incident.
