Residents in East Whiteland Township demanded a police department in 1957 when the increase of traffic and speeding was a real concern on U.S. Route 30. Since then, our township police department has grown tremendously with a level of integrity and professionalism that we greatly admire. The East Whiteland Fire Company enjoys a wonderful working relationship with our township police, surrounding police departments, and the Pennsylvania State Police. An attack on a police officer is an attack on all of us, as citizens of a free and independent country, our police are our protectors and defenders. Chester County experienced tragedy on the night on November 15, 1972 as two Kennett Square Police Officer's Bill Davis and Richard Posey were murdered in the dark of the night in a senseless and malicious act of violence. So too was the senseless and malicious act of violence that took the lives of five officer's of the Dallas Police Department and the others who were injured. An act of this kind not only effects the family and fellow officer's in Dallas, but in every single community and city across our land. Our thoughts are with the Dallas Police Department, our hope is for peace, unity, and justice, and our message is for the continued courage and determination of all law enforcement officer's.
