An alarm for a building fire was dispatched at 8:50 PM Tuesday evening June 28 for the Extended Stay America Hotel, 8 East Swedesford Road in East Whiteland Township. Responding were East Whiteland, Malvern, Paoli, and Berwyn fire apparatus, Malvern Medic 4, East Whiteland Ambulance, and fire police from East Whiteland, Malvern and Paoli. East Whiteland Township police were also on the scene. The incident source was quickly found to be in the elevator service room. The building was evacuated while Swedesford Road was closed at Route 29. Once the situation was clear, the incident was placed under control and units began to return to their stations. Thanks to all departments and personnel for a quick and professional response.
