EMS Week - Our History

During National EMS Week, we are looking back on our own East Whiteland Fire Company history. A committee was assembled in the early 1970's to investigate the possibility of ambulance service to our community. Many hours were spent learning, preparing, and visiting other ambulance services, but it wasn't until 1979 that East Whiteland started it's own ambulance service. Since then, many changes have taken place in Emergency Medical Services, bringing us to where we are today with the most advanced training and equipment available. Our former Fire Chief Gary Long was very instrumental in starting our EMS and Rescue services. Thanks to all those who contributed over the many years in providing EMS to our community.
