At around 0900 hrs (9 am) Station 5 was alerted for a vehicle fire at mile marker 320.7 on the east bound Pennsylvania Turnpike in Tredyffrin Township. Firefighters responded and arrived on location and found a large commercial trailer fully involved, with explosions, and fire extension to the woods. The trailer was hauling a race car, it's fuel, and other recreational vehicles.

At 0927 hrs (9:27 am) additional resources were requested from Stations 3 (Paoli) and 4 (Malvern) to assist. Engine 4-5 assisted with water supply and suppression, and Station 3 units assisted with water supply and brush fire extinguishment.

The trailer was a total loss. Our thoughts go out to Race team owner, who estimated damages to be over $200,000.

All units were available from the Turnpike around 1200 hours (12 pm).
