At 2209 hrs (10:09 pm), the Goshen Fire Dept. (stations 54 & 56) was dispatched to northbound rt. 100 north of rt. 202 for a reported tanker truck on fire.

Assistant 54 (R. Constantine) arrived on location and advised of a tanker truck well involved with approximately 8500 gallons of fuel on board.

With this information, and the dangerous potential to life and property, additional resources were called to the scene, including a county hazardous materials team and a foam task force. Engine 5-5 made the response as part of the foam tanker-task force and stood by on scene for several hours.

Firefighters were able to contain and nock the bulk of the fire down and prevent a deterioration of conditions which could have resulted in catastrophe.

East Whiteland crews were released shortly before midnight.
