At approximately 8:00PM on July 2nd, East Whiteland Fire Company along with other mutual aid companies were dispatched to a residence on Fetters Mill Drive for a possible house fire after lightning struck the house. The residents were not home at the time, however firefighters entered the residence to investigate a smoke condition inside along with an odor of something burning. Multiple other mutual aid companies arrived shortly after to provide assistance. Quick thinking neighbors extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher before arrival. After about one hour, crews felt confident that all fire was extinguished and cleared the scene without any injuries to civilians or firefighters. We always urge our residents to keep fire extinguishers and smoke alarms up to date and in functional condition for situations when fire strikes.
