Units from the East Whiteland Fire Company were on the scene of a traffic accident overnight on Route 401 in Charlestown Township. A vehicle traveling westbound struck a tree just west of Valley Hill Road. Ambulance 5-1, Malvern Fire Company Medic 4, Ambulance 5-2, Engine 5-2, Traffic 5 and Fire Police were all on location. Route 401 was closed at Valley Hill Road and Bell Circle during the incident. As the accident was being cleared, Engine 5-5 responded to the Pennsylvania Turnpike westbound in Upper Uwchlan Township to assist Lionville Fire Company at a vehicle fire.
