The East Whiteland Fire Police were dispatched at 6:26 Sunday evening to assist the Pennsylvania State Police for traffic control on Route 401 between Valley Hill Road and Bell Lane in Charlestown Township. A one vehicle accident was the result of a traffic indicator light pole being damaged, falling into the east-bound travel lane. Fire Police and Pennsylvania State Police were on the scene until well after 9 p.m. until the pole could be removed from the roadway.
