At 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, the East Whiteland Fire Company and the East Whiteland Township Police were dispatched for a child accidentally locked in a vehicle at a day-care facility in East Whiteland Township. It is important to note this was not a child left unattended in a vehicle, but rather an accidental lock-out. The mother immediately called 9-1-1 for assistance. Fire and Police units arrived within minutes of the dispatch. Police and Fire personnel quickly gained access to the vehicle without any damage. The child was not in danger and was monitored the entire time. Thanks to the mother for her immediate call to 9-1-1, our superb Chester County 9-1-1 tele-communicators, others at the scene, and the quick response from emergency responders. Engine 5-1, Ambulance 5-1, Deputy Chief 5, Captain 5, Fire Police Captain & Lieutenant, and East Whiteland Township Police were all on location. As a reminder, always call 9-1-1 in an emergency as responders are nearby and ready to assist.
