A traffic accident involving three vehicles and a deer took place on Route 401 near Bacton Hill Road in East Whiteland Township early Wednesday morning. The East Whiteland Fire Company responded at 6:06 a.m. with Ambulance 5-2 and Engine 5-2. East Whiteland Township Police were on location, with East Whiteland Fire Police closing Route 401 between Spring Valley Road and Bacton Hill Road. Abel Brothers Towing arrived to remove the damaged vehicles. Route 401 (Conestoga Road) is a heavily traveled roadway and is known as a very active deer crossing route. Route 401 is the former Conestoga Trail and runs 18 miles from Route 30 in Frazer to Route 23 in Berks County.
