A local resident and a member of the East Whiteland Fire Company recently made it possible for those with hearing impairments in our area to register with Smart911.com. Anyone can register. The program is a wonderful asset in an emergency, especially for those with special needs or impairments. Simply go to www.smart911.com and enter your specific information which remains secure and is only revealed when you call 9-1-1. The program contains as much information as you wish to enter including a personal photo, emergency contact information, special needs in an emergency, medical information, even pets and vehicles. The Smart911 program has already aided many 9-1-1 callers, saving precious time in an emergency.

There are also smoke and carbon monoxide alarms with strobe lights, shakers, and vibrate functions for the hearing impaired. For additional information on hearing impaired needs, contact us at News@eastwhitelandfire.org.
