The East Whiteland Fire Company was dispatched at 8:53 p.m. Saturday evening for Engine 5-5 to assist the Goshen Fire Company for a house fire on Garrett Mill Road in Willistown Township. Engine 5-5 exhausted an entire hose bed of 5" hose line to help get water to the fire scene. Engine 5-5, as a pumper/tanker and carrying nearly 3,000 gallons of water, was located on the main road with other apparatus. Smaller TAC units were requested from both Malvern and Paoli to access the property as the driveway was very long and narrow. The hose line was provided all the way to the scene along the driveway. Crews extinguished interior pockets of fire and ventilated the roof. East Whiteland Career Captain Greg Lewis managed water supply from the various apparatus on the main road to assure constant water to the scene. East Whiteland Assistant Chief Eric Nowaczyk was on the scene along with FF/EMS Captain Quintin Lotz, FF Brian Hughes, FF/EMS Lieutenant Paul "Tripp" Brown, FF Nick Proko, and making a debut at his first building fire, one of our newest members Jake Wilson. Other companies assisting: Malvern Fire Company, Paoli Fire Company, West Chester Goodwill, Lionville Fire Company, Newtown Square Fire Company, medic units from Malvern and Good Fellowship and county fire marshals.
