At 10:44 AM January 10th, East Whiteland Township FD and Malvern EMS were requested to assist owners with a horse that fell through the ice at a farm in Charlestown Township, Chester County.

The young horse was apparently curious and walked out on to the pond then fell through the ice. The owner and friends worked for almost a hour to try and free the horse, prior to calling 9-1-1.

Emergency units arrived and working side by side of the owner and friends, assisted with chopping the ice in the pond to create a pathway for the horse and pulling the horse out.

The horse was taken back to his barn and checked out by his veterinarian. As of 13:30 hours the horse is doing well.

Good job to everyone involved.
