The East Whiteland Fire Company joins in the effort of preventing injury and death to children from Tip-Over accidents in the home by urging the securing of top-heavy furniture, television/monitors, and removing tempting objects from the tops of furniture. Every 30 minutes, tipped furniture or a falling television, sends an injured child to the hospital emergency department. Every day, 71 children are injured or killed from falling furniture, television, or appliance. The Consumer Product Safety Commission can provide additional information and assistance by calling 1-800-638-2772. As always, we remind you to have working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in the home, practice family exit drills, and in the event of fire or alarms sounding...get everyone outside and call 9-1-1. Stay safe in 2017.
