Icy Roads Cause Traffic Accidents

By News Desk
February 6, 2016

With the precipitation we received on Friday and any melting of existing snow, any or all of that can freeze at night when the temperatures fall. Many traffic accidents were reported throughout Chester County on Friday evening including an accident that East Whiteland Fire Company responded to on Phoenixville Pike in Charlestown Township. Our engine and ambulance arrived on the scene reporting a serious accident and requesting additional ambulance units. East Whiteland Tactical Fire Police closed the road so emergency responders could work in a safe area. Pennsylvania State Police also arrived on the scene as well as towing and recovery vehicles. State Police and East Whiteland Fire Police remained on the scene for two hours while the PennDOT salt truck arrived and salted the roadway. If you are driving at night after the temperatures fall, please drive carefully and watch for icy conditions that may be just about anywhere, and its also a good idea to have an alternate route in case the road you normally travel on is closed.
