At 1430 hrs (2:30 pm) on Saturday, April 27, Station 52 (West Chester - Good Will) was dispatched to the area of Greenhill Road and Ashbridge Road for a smoke investigation outside. The caller reported a large smoke column to the east of their location.
West Chester crews arrived and ultimately discovered 3 acres of woods on fire. Station 51 (West Chester - First West Chester), Brush 6 (West Whiteland) and Tanker 39 (West Bradford) were alerted to assist as Phoenixville Pike Command was established.
As the fire spread to approximately 5 acres, a brush task force was alerted bringing numerous stations and resources from around the county to the scene, including Brush 5.
Units made progress on the fire and the assignment was returned in full by 1818 hrs (6:18 pm.)
